COURSE 06 · FINE LINE TATTOOING · FOREST HILL
Fine line work leaves very little room for error. Our specialist course is hands-on, face-to-face training in Forest Hill, Melbourne, taught in small classes by Olha Po, a licensed cosmetic tattoo artist who has worked professionally since 2016.
BEFORE THE NEEDLE, FOR FINE LINES
A common misconception is that tattooing is mostly about running a machine and tracing a design. In fine line work, the planning and judgement behind each stroke matter just as much as the hand that makes it.
STEP — LINE CONTROL
Hand position, needle depth, speed and stretch all affect how a fine line sits in the skin. You build this control through supervised practice, with Olha correcting your technique as you go.
STEP — DESIGN PLANNING
Delicate designs need careful planning around scale, spacing and placement on the body, so the lines read clearly and suit the area being tattooed.
STEP — SKIN & HYGIENE
You learn to prepare your station, handle equipment and protect yourself and your client through good hygiene and infection control habits.
STEP — AFTERCARE GUIDANCE
Fine lines can change as they heal. You learn how to give clients clear aftercare guidance so they know what to expect and how to look after the tattoo.
“I want to learn, but I’m not sure where to begin.” If that sounds familiar, small classes mean your starting point shapes how you’re taught.
BEGINNERS
Adults who are new to tattooing and want structured, practical tuition from a practising artist. If you’re still deciding where to start, our guide Learning Cosmetic Tattooing: Where to Start may help.
BEAUTY PROFESSIONALS
Cosmetic tattoo artists who want to add fine line work or refine an existing technique. Brow artists may also look at the Microblading Course.
PROCEDURE RISKS
Fine line tattooing breaks the skin. Practical procedures carry risks and must be performed with appropriate training, hygiene and safety precautions. Safety is part of every lesson, not an afterthought.
COMPLETION
This is practical skills training, not a university degree or an accredited qualification. Completing the course does not guarantee employment, income, independent professional competency or regulatory approval to practise. Read What a Course Completion Certificate Means.
WORKING COMMERCIALLY
