TRAINING GUIDES · WRITTEN BY OLHA PO

Cosmetic tattoo training guides: read first, then choose a course

Short, practical guides for prospective students. They’re written by Olha Po, a licensed cosmetic tattoo artist who has worked professionally since 2016 and teaches every class at our Forest Hill studio herself.

Use them to work out where to begin, which brow technique suits you and what a course can and can’t do for your career.

A client faces the camera while a practitioner in a white glove uses a fine marking tool to outline and map her eyebrows.

THE GUIDES

Three guides to read before you enrol

Each guide answers one decision you’ll face early on. Read them in order if you’re new to cosmetic tattooing, or go straight to the one that fits where you are.

GUIDE — GETTING STARTED

If you want to learn cosmetic tattooing but aren’t sure where to begin, start here. It covers the groundwork that comes before technique: mapping and symmetry, colour theory, skin and hygiene, and why one well-chosen first course usually beats several at once. Read the guide →

GUIDE — BROW TECHNIQUES

A plain-English comparison of three brow techniques: how a machine-shaded brow differs from hand-drawn hair strokes, what each asks of your hand control, and how to decide between the Eyebrow Tattoo Course and the Microblading Course. Read the guide →

GUIDE — AFTER THE COURSE

A completion certificate records that you finished a practical skills course. It isn’t a university degree, a government-accredited qualification or a licence to practise. This guide explains what it does mean, and what you’ll still need to arrange before offering treatments to clients. Read the guide →

QUESTION — EXPERIENCE LEVEL

Is a course suitable if I'm a complete beginner?

Our courses are designed for both beginners and beauty professionals. Small classes mean Olha can adjust to how you’re progressing. Start with Where to Start, then see how we teach.

QUESTION — TECHNIQUE

Which brow technique should I learn first?

That depends on the work you want to offer and the skills you already have. The brow comparison guide sets the options side by side. The Technique Reference describes how each technique looks.

QUESTION — PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

What will I need to do after finishing?

Before you treat clients commercially, you’re responsible for any business registration, insurance, infection control and local regulatory requirements that apply. Read the certificate guide and our course information.

A SUGGESTED READING ORDER

The guides start with planning and judgement rather than equipment. Once you’ve read them, you’re welcome to talk through which course suits your experience. Finishing a course doesn’t guarantee employment, income, independent competency or regulatory approval to practise. Our course information explains this, along with booking, deposit and refund conditions under Australian Consumer Law.
