Most course pages look alike at a glance. The differences show up in the details: how many hours you actually hold a machine, who stands beside you while you do, and what happens once the course is over. This checklist gives you a fair way to compare any program, including ours, before you commit your time and savings.

Treat each one as a measurement, not a feeling. Write the answer down for every course you consider.
Theory matters, but control comes from repetition. Ask how the course time splits between classroom learning, practice skins and supervised work on live models. Ask how much of that time you work yourself rather than watch a demonstration. Our training guide explains why that sequence matters.
Look for trainers who still work on clients and can show healed results, not just fresh ones. Teaching is a separate skill, so ask how they correct a student’s technique mid-stroke. You can read about the people who teach here on our Trainers page.
Class size decides how often a trainer watches your hand. Find out how many students share one trainer during practical sessions, and whether theory is taught in person or beforehand.
Your first clients come after the last class. Ask whether you can send photos of your work for feedback, return for refresher practice, or get help with healed-result reviews.
You learn from watching classmates’ corrections as well as your own. It works well when the group is small enough that the trainer checks every practice skin, not just a sample.
The trainer watches every stroke and sets the pace to suit you. It suits people with a clear goal, such as one technique, or those returning to fix a specific habit.
Reading skin anatomy, colour theory and hygiene ahead of class frees up studio time for the machine. Check that the practical part is still supervised and substantial.
i. How many live models will I work on, and who sources them?
ii. Is a kit included, and which machine and needles does it use?
iii. What does the course cover on hygiene and infection control?
iv. What will I receive on completion, and what does it allow me to do?
v. Which council or state requirements should I check before taking clients?
vi. Can I see genuine healed work from past students?
Many of these are answered on our FAQ. For the equipment questions, see the equipment guide. For genuine results, browse the Student Work gallery.
